About Craig
Craig Logan's story is rooted in service, shaped by community, and driven by a deep belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. Originally from Greenwood, SC, Craig was raised in a household where faith, education, and service were not just values, they were a way of life. His mother, a longtime educator and youth pastor, instilled in him the importance of pouring into others.
Today, Craig is proud to call North Charleston home. It’s a community he has invested in deeply, building relationships, listening to families, and working alongside neighbors to address real challenges. Whether the issue is education, housing, transportation, or economic opportunity, Craig’s approach is rooted in collaboration and a commitment to lasting solutions.
As a Lead Principal for BIC Solutions, Craig works at the intersection of housing, education, and public policy, helping organizations and communities navigate complex challenges with thoughtful, people-centered strategies. His work reflects a clear understanding: when families are stable and supported, students are better positioned to thrive.
Craig’s passion for education advocacy is equally strong. Through his leadership at the E3 Foundation, he has developed and implemented programs that empower students and families, including Youth in Action, a civic engagement initiative that gives young people a voice in their communities. His work focuses on ensuring all students (regardless of background), have access to the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed.
For more than 15 years, Craig has also dedicated himself to the Children’s Defense Fund’s Freedom Schools program, growing from a Servant Leader Intern to a National Ella Baker Trainer. In this role, he has helped shape curriculum and train educators across the country, advancing culturally responsive teaching and proven strategies that combat summer learning loss and improve reading outcomes.
In 2025, Craig helped launch the E3 CDF Freedom Schools site at Jenkins Youth and Family Village, serving as Project Director. In its very first summer, the program earned national recognition as an advanced site, an achievement that speaks to both its impact and Craig’s leadership.
Craig’s commitment to strengthening communities extends beyond his work in education. As an expert housing strategist, he has played a key role in advancing regional housing solutions, including helping to build the Regional Housing Coalition through the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. His work promotes thoughtful growth, access to attainable housing, and infrastructure that supports families across the region.
He remains actively engaged in community leadership, serving as President of the Chicora Neighborhood Association, and contributing to organizations such as Metanoia, Community First Land Trust, the North Charleston Housing Authority, and M.A.D.D. In each role, Craig brings a servant’s heart and a focus on creating opportunities for others.
A graduate of Charleston Southern University, Craig holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and a Master's Degree in Project Management. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. At his core, Craig Logan is a collaborator and builder of bridges. Drawing from his family’s emphasis on hard work and education being keys to opening doors, he strives to lead with purpose. He carries those lesions with him in every space he serves. Craig is guided by a simple and powerful belief: “When we invest in students, support families, and strengthen communities, we create a future where everyone has a chance to succeed.”
Core Policies and Beliefs Framework
1. Teacher Support and Empowerment
I believe that teachers are the foundation of student success. I believe in policies that prioritize recruiting, developing, and retaining high-quality educators by providing competitive compensation, ongoing professional development, and meaningful mentorship opportunities. Teachers should be supported through collaborative planning time, access to instructional resources, and data-informed coaching. I am committed to fostering a professional culture where educators feel valued, respected, and empowered to innovate while being held to high standards of instructional excellence.
2. Holistic Family Support and Wraparound Services
I recognize that student achievement is deeply connected to family stability and well-being. I will advocate for solutions that integrate wraparound services that address academic, social, emotional, and basic needs. This includes partnerships with community organizations to provide access to healthcare, mental health services, nutrition programs, and family counseling. Schools should serve as community hubs, ensuring families have the resources and support necessary to fully engage in their children’s education. I am committed to reducing barriers to learning by addressing the whole child and supporting the entire family unit.
3. Transparency and Accountability
I believe trust is built through openness and responsibility. This includes publicly accessible reporting on school performance, budgeting, and program outcomes. Decision-making processes should be transparent, with stakeholder input actively sought and considered. I will advocate for accountability systems that are fair, data-informed, and focused on continuous improvement rather than punitive measures, ensuring that all members of the district are responsible for advancing student success.
4. Closing the Achievement Gap Through Data-Driven Solutions
I am committed to equity and excellence for all students. My policy approach would center on data to identify achievement disparities and target resources where they are most needed. I will advocate for including regular assessment cycles, disaggregated data analysis, and evidence-based interventions tailored to diverse student populations. I also believe that educators should be trained to interpret and act on data effectively, ensuring instructional practices meet the needs of every learner.
5. Continuous Improvement and Innovation
Across all pillars, I embrace a mindset of ongoing learning and adaptation. I will advocate for regular evaluations of the effectiveness of our policies and programs, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and emerging research. Innovation will be encouraged at all levels, with a focus on scalable practices that improve outcomes for students and families.
Guiding Belief Statement
I believe that every student can succeed when educators are supported, families are engaged, systems are transparent, and decisions are guided by data. By aligning my efforts across these core areas, I will strive to create a cohesive, equitable, and accountable system that drives meaningful and lasting student achievement.
My journey through adversity has shaped my commitment to lead and advocate for meaningful change in my community. Leadership, at its core, reflects resilience—the ability to grow through challenges and use those experiences to serve others. Our pasts offer perspective, empathy, and strength, allowing us to uplift those navigating similar struggles.
I have used my experiences as a catalyst for action, working to inspire others to rise above obstacles and pursue a better future. I remain committed to moving forward with purpose, using leadership to help strengthen communities and expand opportunities. My story reflects perseverance, growth, and the belief that challenges can be transformed into pathways for impact and achievement.
